What makes a review count here

Every review on flatwhitebread comes from someone with an account. A review is marked Verified visit when that person checked in at the restaurant, from the restaurant, within the previous seven days. Verified reviews count double towards a restaurant's score.

One review per person per restaurant. You can edit yours whenever you like; you can't post a second one.

Reviews go live 24 hours after posting. That delay gives everyone — including you — a night to think, and gives us time to act on anything that shouldn't be public.

What we remove

Illness and food poisoning

We don't publish claims that a restaurant made someone unwell. Not because we doubt people, but because we have no way to verify such a claim and the harm of publishing a wrong one is severe.

If you became ill after eating out, please report it to your local council's environmental health team — they're the ones who can inspect the premises, which is worth considerably more than a one-star review. You can find yours through localcouncils.govt.nz.

Reporting a review

Anyone with an account can report a review using the Report link beneath it. We aim to look at reports within two working days.

If you're a restaurant

You can dispute any review about your business using the form below. You don't need an account.

What happens: the review is hidden immediately and removed from your score while we look at it. It is not deleted. We assess it against this policy and either remove it permanently or restore it, and we'll email you either way. We keep a record of what we decided and why.

We won't remove a review simply because it's negative. A fair, first-hand account of a bad meal is exactly what this site is for. What we will remove is anything that breaches the rules above.
